STATEMENT OF THE UNION COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
REGARDING
SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS
Official Statement

Regarding the adoption of a Second Amendment Preservation Ordinance (SAPO). “The SAPO approved by Ballot Measure 31-96 states that it becomes effective immediately upon certification of approval by the voters of Union County. By its own terms, it has been adopted and we do not need to adopt an ordinance for it to become effective.”

Regarding adoption of a Second Amendment Sanctuary Ordinance (SASO), to replace the SAPO adopted by the vote of the people. “Because the SAPO was approved by vote of the people, we are unable to amend it by action of the Board of Commissioners”.

We support the constitution of the United States and the State of Oregon and the protections both these documents afford the citizens our nation and our state, including Second Amendment Rights.”
